Solicitor Director
LLB

Jason Ling is an Accredited Specialist Immigration Lawyer and is the founder and principal of Agape. Having started in Australia as a migrant himself, Jason is not only passionate about Immigration Law but he is addicted to this industry, spending endless hours summarising case laws from 2001 to present.

After failing the Accredited Specialists examinations 3 times, over a period of 6 years, he became the 41st Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law in NSW. This is a testament to his character, “never give up, never retreat”. Whenever Jason is presented a difficult, almost impossible case, his answer is never “No”. He will always fight to the end and find a way to help the client.

His passion is derived from his own experiences as a migrant.

Jason is a crazy and ambitious lawyer that works 24/7 on a case. Sometimes you may receive emails from him at 3am, 4am, 5am (we suspect he never sleeps).

His legal career began in 2007, having practised in civil litigation, criminal law, family law, property law, wills & estate, intellectual property law and administrative law, giving him all the knowledge and experience he would require to consider your case from all different angles.

Being an Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law (and only having 90+ in Australia), Jason’s clientele includes extremely complex cases, large corporations and other lawyers in the industry.

His practice areas include audit & compliance, visa cancellation, AAT (General Division), judicial review, detention centre & removals. His strength becomes prominent in highly complex matters. He only accepts a handful of cases each year to provide his clients with an intimate relationship. The rest of the time, he provides private tuition to other Registered Migration Agents and Immigration Lawyers.

Languages: fluent in English & work with a team who are native Mandarin speakers

What Clients say about Jason Ling:

Permanent Partner Visa Granted Despite No Cohabitation and Sponsor in Prison.

I can’t thank Jason and his firm enough! When I went to Jason in March 2015, it was when my de facto visa application was under review (more towards being declined) as when I submitted the application my partner was in prison. As such, we had no evidence of cohabitation and very minimal evidence of being in a de facto relationship. Jason helped me with my statements and witness statements, paragraph by paragraph... Subclass 186 ENS Visa Granted Despite Adverse Information issue.

I write my story to give hope to those affected by unstable migration laws and bad decisions by the department. I went to see Jason at a very bad time where immigration announced removing many occupations from PR list and increasing the English language requirement. The company that sponsored my work visa had to close down because of immigration and employment law problems. I remember meeting Jason for 1st time, he was wearing shorts. after talking to him for a few mins, he pressured me to make a decision to lodge PR and it must be his way only… READ MORE.

Jason is a true expert in the field of migration law! He leads by example and continually supports his peers in their learning and professional development. There is nobody better positioned to assist with complicated visa matters and queries. He has a truely unique mind and can solve complex matters so easily, given the wealth of knowledge he has developed over the years. I can’t thank Jason enough for sharing his expertise with me and I would not look past him for assistance with those complex matters - it could be the difference between staying in Australia or missing your chance!

I have known Jason as a boss, colleague and friend. He is one of the smartest lawyers in Migration law and his diligence has distinguished him from us ordinary lawyers- Mr Accredited Specialist (lol). He literally walks with the migration legislation in his head and no matter what hour of the night or even on vacation - he is game to solve any migration issue. He believes there is always a way and always does find a way. I believe all his clients can attest to that.

Jason is a perfect representation of a walking encyclopedia for Immigration Law! He pulls cases and sections out of his head in a way that is quite scary at times.

His unique mind, ability to solve complex matters and willingness to teach other immigration law practitioners to do the same is admirable.

Jason is an enigma. He is INCREDIBLY shy and reclusive but will stay up late into the night (way past my bedtime) to debate with me and others on the more arcane elements of migration law, until we are all on the same page (or all equally confounded).

He is not afraid to share his knowledge and is always genuinely willing to assist his colleagues in the industry.

In fact, Jason put his entire team (and his offices) at the disposal of two experienced lawyers (myself included) and we both managed to pass the Specialist Accreditation exam this year (the failure rate for the intake was 85%!). To say that we are grateful (and incredibly relieved) is an understatement.

I love Jason’s passion and commitment. He has already passed the exam and could easily have settled back into his business. Instead he was paying it forward to the next group of lawyers wanting to achieve the same high position of respect and status.

Jason is giving and passionate about migration law and keen to share his extensive knowledge. He doesn’t ask anything in return.

His passion and drive for continuous growth in our industry is also a great motivator for those around him.

I am a friend and former colleague of Jason Ling. As a member of the immigration legal profession I would highly recommend Jason as your legal representative if you have a complex immigration or citizenship matter such as a refusal, cancellation (or pending cancellation), health or character issues, family issues, if you are unlawful, or you have a problem and you simply need someone to talk to about your situation. Jason is adept at thinking outside the box and is not afraid to take on a challenge, no matter how difficult. Jason is also a friend and mentor to his colleagues and is well liked by other members of the immigration profession.

Jason has been working in migration law for more than 10 years and possibly can now recite the whole Migration Act (and the Regulations, etc). Migration law is such an ever-changing area of practice and just like any other area of law, it's also very stressful and demanding; one must be consistent, astute and absolutely diligent to survive and thrive 10+ years of practice in migration law. Good luck for Jason's future practice and certainly good luck of all the people that Jason and his team had assisted in the past years.
