Common Reasons for Australian Citizenship Refusal

There are a number of grounds that may lead to the refusal of an Australian citizenship application with the more complex reasons including:

  • Failure on character grounds – this may be due to the criminal history of an individual; and

  • Failure on identity grounds – this occurs when the Minister is not satisfied of a person's identity.

STEP 1: Reviewing the refusal and assessing whether there have been any errors in the application of the law/policy.

STEP 2: Devising a strategy for appeal.

STEP 3: Assist with the collection of any new evidence.

Approval for Child Australian Citizenship After Refusal Due to Identity Issue

The lawyers at Agape are fighters. We kept getting hit back by poor decision making of the Chinese embassy on the identity issue. We went to Tribunal and my lawyer put up a fight with the Government. In the end, the Minister conceded that they made a mistake and remitted the application back to the Department and now I have received an approval for my child’s citizenship.
