What Is the Training Visa (Subclass 407)? 

The Training visa (Subclass 407) is a temporary visa typically granted for one year, aimed at individuals seeking to participate in workplace-based training activities in Australia.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) At least 4.5 on four (4) test components
PTE At least 30 in each of the test components
TOEFL At least a total score of 32
OET At least a “B”
Cambridge English (CAE) Advanced At least 147 overall test score

What Should Applicants Know About TOEFL iBT?

English tests from TOEFL iBT that were completed ’at-home’ or ‘online’ between 26 July 2023 and 4 May 2024 will not be accepted by the Department as of today. 

What Are the Exemptions from English Language Tests?

  1. Citizens of English-speaking Countries: If you hold a valid passport from the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland, you do not need to undertake the tests. Exceptions: British National (Overseas) passports are not accepted.

  2. Completion of Education in English: If you have completed a degree, higher degree, diploma, or trade certificate from an institution that required at least 2 years of full-time study in English, you are exempted.

  3. Education at Specific Institutions

    1. Primary and Secondary Schools: If you studied at a primary or secondary school in or outside Australia where all instruction was in English, you must have completed all primary years and at least three years of secondary education. 

    2. Secondary School: For those who completed at least five years of secondary education in English. 

    3. Australian Institutions: You are exempt if you studied at an institution in Australia for at least one year of full-time study (or part-time equivalent) to qualify for the Training (SC 407) Visa.
