Pacific Engagement Visa (Subclass 192) | Pre-Application, Visa Requirements & Process

The Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) (Subclass 192) offers a migration pathway for citizens of Pacific Island nations and Timor-Leste, promotes regional partnerships and economic collaboration. The recent legislative updates, including the Migration (Subclass 192 (Pacific Engagement) Visa Pre Application Process – Pacific Engagement Stream) Determination 2025, have now outlined the visa eligibility criteria and application process.

What is the Pacific Engagement Visa (Subclass 192)?

This PEV (SC 192) allows individuals from the Pacific Island and Timor Leste nationals a pathway to live and work in Australia permanently.

What is the Pacific Engagement (Subclass 192) Visa Process?

To be eligible to apply for the Subclass 192 – PEV, it includes a pre-application process, which includes a random ballot selection system for potential visa applicants.

What are the Eligibilities for Subclass 192 – Pacific Engagement Visa?

  • Visa applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 45.

What is the Application Process for Subclass 192 – Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV)?

  • Eligible participants must register for the pre-application process online via ImmiAccount. The selection process is at random. If selected, they will be invited to submit a visa application.

  • Applicants have to be aware of the specific application windows established by the Department to secure their place.

Can I include my family in the Pacific Engagement Visa (Subclass 192)?

Eligible family members, including spouses and children over 18 years old, may register separately for the ballot. When submitting your registration, you can include yourself and any eligible family members who wish to apply for the PEV (SC 192) with you.

If you are selected in the ballot, you will be the main applicant for the visa application. As the primary applicant, you can include other family unit members in your visa application. However, if you are including a non-biological child due to adoption, you must provide additional supporting evidence.

Are there English requirements for the Pacific Engagement Visa (SC 192)?

Starting 1 May 2025, applicants are to satisfy the English requirement, which may include certain primary applicants and their spouse or de facto partner. They will have to demonstrate it through 1 of these 5 recognised English language tests, which are:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

  • Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic)

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) (only applicable for tests completed before July 25, 2023)

  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE); now known as C1 Advanced

  • Occupational English Test (OET)

Unlike other visa applications, the minimum test score for reading and writing are not required, with the primary focus on speaking and listening skills. Applicants who do not meet the English proficiency requirement will have access to the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) at no cost upon their arrival in Australia.
