Global Talent Independent Program

The Global Talent Independent program which offers a priority streamlined visa pathway for highly skilled individuals to permanently reside in Australia was officially launched on 04 November 2019. The rationale behind the program is to strengthen Australia’s ability to compete with the world’s best and brightest skilled migrants and at the same time, to grow Australian business of the future.

Two Main Criteria of the Global Talent Independent Program the Applicants Need to Consider

  1. Highly skilled and internationally recognized in one of seven target sectors as follows:

  • AgTech

  • FinTech

  • MedTech

  • Cyber Security

  • Space and advanced manufacturing

  • Energy and mining technology

  • Quantum info, advanced digital, data science and ICT

2. Has the ability to earn High Income Threshold stipulated by Fair Work (i.e. $148,700 at the time of writing).

You can register your interest at the Department’s website if you wish to apply and meet the above two criteria.

What Happens When the Applicant Meet the Requirements

Individuals who meet the requirements will be provided with a unique Global Talent identifier, which provides priority processing for a Distinguished Talent visa application. Candidates accepted into the program will receive streamlined, priority processing with complete visa applications currently taking less than a month to finalize. All visa applicants need to meet the Distinguished Talent visa regulatory criteria (i.e. subclass 124 or 858 depending on where you lodge the application – i.e. onshore in Australia or outside of Australia, including health and character requirements before a visa can be granted.
