Training (Subclass 407) Visa – Visa Document Checklist

The training visa subclass 407 allows workers to work and live in Australia temporarily by being sponsored by an organization to participate in workplace-based training or a professional development training program in Australia. It is important you have all the required documents ready for the visa application. This visa document checklist below is a helpful guide to make sure that you have everything that you need. Review the eligibility requirements closely to ensure that your sponsor and/or you qualify for the training visa (subclass 407). Keep in mind that the application process can be complex, so it is best to consult with an immigration lawyer before submitting the visa application.

Visa Document Checklist for Traning Visa (Subclass 407)

You will need the following documents:  

  • Passport and identity documents – you will need to provide a valid passport and identification documents such as birth certificates, national ID cards, driver’s licenses etc.  

  • Resume – this should show a complete and up to date work history. 

  • Qualifications – all qualifications you have that are relevant to your training.  

  • Evidence of your previous work experience – this should include reference letters from your previous and current employer (on a letterhead) and your pay and tax records.  

  • Proof of Financial Funds – It is important that you can show that you are able to financially support yourself and any family members included in the application. Evidence includes, bank statements, employment contracts, and other evidence of incoming funds.  

  • Health Insurance – You will need to demonstrate that you and any additional applicants have health insurance at the time of application and decision. It will be a condition of the visa that you maintain the health insurance.  

  • Evidence of English proficiency – You can submit an acceptable English test result from IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson Test of English Academic or Cambridge English: Advanced. You will not need to undergo an English test if you can show that you attended primary or secondary school where the language of instruction was English.  

  • Police Check – You will need to provide an Australian Federal Police check and a police check from any country you had lived in for more than 12 months in the past 10 years.  

  • Evidence of sponsorship – either evidence that there has been a submission of a sponsorship application or the sponsorship approval letter.  

  • Evidence of nomination – either evidence that there has been a submission of a nomination application or the nomination approval letter.  

Extra Documents for Additional Applicants  

  • Passport and identification documents  

  • If it is a spouse or de facto partner:  

    • Documents showing that you have been in a spousal or de facto relationship with them for at least a year prior to the application. This includes joint bank statements, leases, property titles, joint loan documents, photos of the couple. For more examples you can consult this list.  

    • Evidence that the relationship has been registered or a marriage certificate  

  • If it is a dependent child under 18:  

    • Birth certificate  

      Form 1229 for parental consent (from both parents, unless there has been a court order granting sole parental responsibility)  

  • If dependent child over 18:  

    • Birth certificate  

    • Evidence that the child is substantially financially reliant on you (more than anyone else). This usually is evidenced by bank statements covering the 1-2 years prior to the application was made.
