Immi Update – Subclass 482 Visa Processing Time Delays
Some updates from the Department of Home Affairs (DoHA) on the delays in visa processing. DoHA explained that the Department have shifted resources to clear the backlog of older Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa applications, which remains a priority.
Since December 2024, when the TSS visa was closed, the Department reports a 60% decrease in pending applications, and they are close to finishing this backlog. The Department also noted that applications for current Subclass 482 – Skills in Demand (SID) visa have increased by 44% compared to last year. Once the old applications are cleared, they plan to focus on speeding up processing fr the new SID visa applications. While they said that decisions are being made on " decision-ready " applications, many applications are not yet decision-ready, which is causing some delays.
