I Haven't Received My Bridging Visa After Applied for Partner Visa

There have been recent concerns about delays in issuing bridging visas for partner visa applicants. In many cases, bridging visas may take up to several weeks to be granted, and some applicants have become unlawful before the bridging visa is issued.

I Have Not Received My Bridging Visa, What Do I Do?

If you were in this scenario and you are waiting for your bridging visa to be issued upon lodging your Onshore Partner Visa (Subclass 820/801), all you have to do is wait for it to be processed. If you were to be unlawful during this period, issuing a bridging visa is typically processed based on the applicant’s status at the time of lodgement. This means that the applicant will still be granted the appropriate bridging visa once processing is complete.

What are Some Scenarios for Bridging Visas?

  1. Suppose you were holding a substantive visa and applied for a Partner Visa. You will be issued with a Bridging Visa A (BVA) (Subclass 010)

  2. If you did not hold a substantive visa, i.e., a BVA, Bridging Visa B (BVB) (Subclass 020), and applied for a Partner Visa, you will be issued with a Bridging Visa C (Subclass 030)

  3. If you have unlawfully applied for a Partner Visa, you will be issued with a BVC.
