Income Thresholds and Labour Market Testing (LMT) Changes from 1 July 2025
A reminder that starting in the new financial year on 1 July 2025, the work sponsorship visas on the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) and Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT) and Labour Market Testing (LMT) requirements will increase. These visa subclasses require that their nomination and visa applications meet the income threshold and Labour Market Testing (LMT):
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (SESR) (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 494)
Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMA) (Subclass 482 or 494)
Work Sponsorship Income Threshold to Increase
In the new financial year, the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) and Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) will increase to $76,515, and the Specialist Skills Income Threshold will rise to $141,210, a 4.6% increase compared to the 2024-25 financial year. Employers and visa applicants should ensure their income aligns with these new figures for applications lodged after 1 July.
What about the Labour Market Testing (LMT) Requirements?
For nominations requiring Labour Market Testing (LMT), ensure that the LMT advertisements have been live continuously for at least 4 weeks before lodging the nomination application.
If the sponsor plans to lodge the nomination application after 1 July, ensure that all the LMT advertisements posted from now on reflect the new CSIT or SSIT amount. The salary can be posted as a range.
All employers and applicants should review their current LMTs to ensure compliance with the new requirement. If the LMT does not meet the new income threshold, the sponsor may have to redo the LMT process.
