How Does Condition 8578 Affect Me?
If you hold an Australian visa, that is attached to that requires updates on your stay, such as the Condition 8578. This condition is commonly applied to certain temporary visas.
What Is Condition 8578?
Condition 8578 – Notify us if your passport or contact details change states that " You must let us know within 14 days if any of the following change while you are in Australia on this visa." Essentially, if a visa holder has relocated or have new contact details, they must notify the Department of Home Affairs (DoHA) within 14 days.
This condition often requires updated information of:
The address where you live
Your email address
Your phone number
Your passport details, including your name
Your employer’s address
The address where you work
Which Visa Do You Commonly Find Condition 8578 Attached to?
You can find the Condition 8578 in visa subclasses, such as and not limited to:
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 494)
Bridging (General) visa (when imposed by the Minister) (Subclass 050)
How Does Condition 8578 Affect You?
Especially for regional visas aiming for Subclass 191 (PR pathway), visa applicants must meet the residency requirement in a designated regional area.
If you have recently relocated, and have yet to notify DoHA, your visa may be at risk of cancellation if DoHA discovered you have breached the visa conditions. A visa cancellation can then lead to re-entry ban under PIC 4014 and affect future visa applications for your pathway to PR and citizenship.
