The SA Government will support nominations through 5 pathways:
Global Researchers and Thought Leaders – demonstrated with their outstanding academics, with a proven track record of impactful contributions through publications, patents, or keynote speeches at major conferences. Their research and thought leadership have a global influence and have shown significant intellectual impact.
Entrepreneur – capable of transforming ideas into impactful businesses. Applicants should demonstrate a strong record of creating or scaling innovative products, services, or startups that have the potential to contribute significantly to the economy or society.
Innovative Investor – successful investors who have supported or scaled ventures with high growth potential. They have demonstrated the ability to identify and nurture innovative firms that generate substantial economic or social returns.
Creative Talent – individuals with high international recognition in creative industries such as arts, media, design or entertainment. Their work should have received notable awards, critical acclaim, or global recognition as a leader in their field.
Other Globally Talented Individuals – exceptional candidates whose achievements do not precisely fit the above categories but still show extraordinary merit. These individuals might have unique contributions, awards, or impacts that justify nomination based on merit alone.
What is South Australia’s NIV (SC858) Process and Criteria?
Eligible candidates first submit a Registration of Interest (ROI) showing their achievements and how they meet the specific pathway criteria under which they are applying.
Nominations will be selected through a thorough review, focusing on the applicant’s record of achievement, impact and proven track record of innovation.
Successful candidates nominated by SA must complete a Form 1000 and a business case letter to provide in their Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Department of Home Affairs (DoHA).
Lodge the EOI with DoHA, and if you are successful, DoHA will invite you to apply for the NIV (SC858) visa.
