TAS Skilled Migration Program ROI Opens for 2025-26

The Tasmanian (TAS) Skilled Migration State Nomination is officially open for the 2025-26 program year, effective 6 October 2025, with limited 165 placements (85 for Skilled Nominated (Permanent) (Subclass 190) visa and 80 for Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 491) visa)

Here are some key updates you need to know for Skilled Nominated (Permanent) (Subclass 190) visa and Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 491) visa

  • The service fee to apply for nomination has increased to $370 ($407 including GST). To submit the Registration of Interest (ROI) remain at no charge.

  • Migration Tasmania has revised its system for ranking Registrations of Interest (ROIs) to enhance transparency.

    • Each candidate will be allocated a total ROI score which will be clearly displayed within the system.

  • Adjustments to priority attributes for nomination selection.

    • Points now correlate to each priority, with greater weight given to younger applicants and those already residing in Australia.

    • Your ROI score, determined by the attributes you meet, determines your coloured pass:

      • Gold Pass: for 1,000 points or more and can lodge a nomination application immediately.

      • Green Pass: for 250 points or more, the invitation to apply for nomination within the following 6 months.

      • Orange Pass: under 250 points, invitations may be issued depending on the number of available nomination places and ROIs received. Some orange priority attributes are designated “Orange plus”, scoring 25 points or more.

  • Updated and more specific minimum eligibility requirements.

    • Skilled roles (ANZSCO 1-3) and lower skilled roles (ANZSCO 4-5) in priority attributes have been replaced with an income threshold.

    • The “Critical Roles List” now exclusively targets only health, allied health or education professions, with only teaching roles in schools qualifying for the Gold priority attribute.

  • The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) is updated to align with current Australian earnings. If you are applying for skilled roles (ANZSCO 1-3), there is now an income threshold of $57,000 per year (or a base rate of $28.85 per hour).

  • Applicants who have submitted an ROI in the last 6 months may wish to withdraw it and submit a new one due to the priority attribute changes.
