Do I Need a New Skills Assessment When Moving from SID (SC482) to ENS (SC186) (TRT)?
Wondering if you need to apply for a new skills assessment as now that you are preparing for you the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) (SC186) visa - Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream while holding a Skills in Demand (SID) (Subclass 482) visa (previously known as Temporary Skill Shortage visa)?
What is a Skills Assessment?
A skills assessment is a formal evaluation that verifies whether your qualifications, skills and work experience meet the standards required for a specific occupation in Australia. Skills assessments are conducted by authorised assessing bodies and are often required for skilled migration work visas.
Why Skills Assessment Matters for Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) (Subclass 186) Visa?
The ENS (SC 186) visa allows skilled workers to live and work permanently in Australia with employer nomination from an Australian business. There are three streams within the ENS visa subclass 186, which are:
Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream
Labour Agreement stream
Applicants who wish to apply for SC186 DE stream are required to provide a skills assessment at the time of application.
As for the TRT and Labour Agreement streams, a skills assessment isn't required at the time of application; however, a case officer may still ask you to obtain a skills assessment if they think it is necessary before deciding your application. Typically, skills assessments are valid for a set number of years. If the assessment doesn't specify an expiry date, it remains valid for three years from the date of the assessment.
