Tasmania Skilled Migration Update on Invitation Rounds & ROI Guidance (13 March 2026)
Tasmania has issued most of its State Visa Nomination invitations for the 2025-26 Skilled Migration program year and is now prioritising processing existing applications. While Registrations of Interest (ROIs) remain open, the number of new invitations will be limited in the coming weeks as the State focuses on current applications.
Here are some of the key updates:
Strong demand has largely exhausted Tasmania’s 2025-26 nomination allocation, leaving only a small number of nomination places available.
Applicants may still submit an ROI; however, new invitations will be restricted until current applications are assessed and allocations for 2026-27 are confirmed.
For Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190):
Invitations are paused for ROIs that do not receive a Gold pass.
ROIs with a Green pass will continue to be invited to apply for nomination within six (6) months of submission.
Note: even if a Green pass ROI is approved, Tasmania may be unable to finalise nomination within this program year if all places have been filled.
For Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 491) visa:
Invitations will continue across all pass categories.
However, the total number of invitations issued will be reduced for the remainder of the program year.
What Applicants Should Do Now?
Submit an ROI to keep you in contention for future invitations.
If you have a Green or Gold pass ROI, ensure your documentation is current and accurate to avoid processing delays or adverse outcomes.
Expect slower invitation activity and monitor Tasmanian Government announcements for updates on the 2026-27 allocation.
If timing is critical for your plans, consider alternative visa or nomination pathways by seeking professional guidance with an immigration lawyer.
Tasmania will provide a further update once nomination allocations for the 2026-27 program year are confirmed by the Australian Government. In the meantime, applicants should keep their contact details and supporting documents up to date.
