State Migration Updates (TAS, ACT & SA) – Deadlines and Program Closures (June 2026)

As we are nearing the end of the 2025-26 migration program year, several states are moving quickly to finalise their quotas. For many applicants, June represents the last window to lodge applications or Registrations of Interests (ROIs) before the new financial year begins in July.

Tasmania Program Closing to New ROIs

Due to high demand, the Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program is winding down for the year.

  • ROIs for all pathways will close at 5 pm on Wednesday (3 June 2026).

  • The final scheduled invitation round for this program year will take place on Thursday (4 June 2026).

  • Migration Tasmania will continue to assess pending applications. However, places are limited. If your application is approved after places are full, you will be nominated when the 2026-27 program opens in July.

  • ROIs not invited by the end of June will remain in the system for 6 months and be considered when the new program begins.

ACT Latest Invitation Round Results

The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) held a significant invitation round on 6 May 2026. The round results were: 172 invitations issued for the Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190) and 134 for the Skilled Work Regional Visa (Subclass 491). Most invitations went to the Critical Skill Occupations for both Canberra residents and overseas applicants.

The ACT has 312 places left for the remainder of the year (as of 7 May 2026), with 185 places for the SC190 visa and 127 for the SC491 visa. If you are aiming for ACT, the window of opportunity is closing fast.

South Australia (SA) Final Scheduled Invitation Round

South Australia (SA) has issued its final scheduled round of invitations for the 2025-26 program year as of 21 May 2026. 161 invitations issued for the SC190 visa and 77 for the SC491 visa. SA has issued 1,767 nominations for the SC190 visa and 1,086 for the SC491 visa for this program year so far. While this was the last scheduled round, the government may still conduct small rounds to ensure every single place is used before 30 June 2026.
