South Australia (SA) Extends DAMAs to January 2027
The South Australian (SA) Government has announced an update for regional employers and skilled migrants. SA’s two (2) Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMAs) have been officially extended by four (4) months. These agreements, which provide crucial flexibility for regional businesses facing skills and labour shortages, will now remain in effect until 31 January 2027.

What This Means for Employers and Applicants
If you are currently preparing an application or sponsoring an employee under the SA DAMA, here are the key details you need to know:
The terms, conditions, and occupation lists of both DAMA extensions remain completely unchanged since their last variation in June 2026.
This four-month extension is a temporary measure designed to provide ongoing support for businesses while the SA Government continues negotiations with the Commonwealth.
The goal of these ongoing negotiations is to establish a brand-new, comprehensive five-year statewide DAMA.
The South Australian Government will provide further updates on the specific terms of the new five-year DAMA and the exact transition arrangements once negotiations have formally concluded.
