Subclass 189 Invitation Round – 4 June 2026
The Department of Home Affairs (DoHA) has officially advised that the next invitation round for the Skilled Independent (Subclass 189) visa is scheduled for 4 June 2026. This is an opportunity for skilled workers currently in the SkillSelect pool. Because the SC189 is highly competitive and does not require state or employer sponsorship, it remains one of the most sought-after pathways to Australian permanent residency (PR).
Important Action Required: Update Your EOI
If you have an active Expression of Interest (EOI) in Skill Select, you must act now to ensure your EOI is updated and accurate. To maximise your chances of receiving an invite, ensure the following:
Ensure that all information in your EOI, including your work experience, qualifications, and relationship status, is 100% accurate and up to date. Providing incorrect information can lead to a visa refusal and may result in a visa ban under PIC 4020.
Verify that your points claim is correct. If you have recently completed a new year of work experience or gained a higher English test score, update your EOI immediately.
Ensure that your Skills Assessment and English Language Test results (IELTS/PTE) are still valid on the date of the invitation round.
Why Accuracy Matters
The Department has issued a reminder that invitations are issued based on the data currently in the system. If you receive an invitation based on an EOI that contains outdated or false information, you may be unable to meet the “time of invitation” criteria when you lodge your visa application, which may result in a visa refusal.
